This week in Bunaken… Devils, scorpions and ghosts! After Halloween it seems only natural that we should spot scary creatures this week. On Lekuan 3 an ornate ghost pipefish and several leaf scorpion fish, found and photographed by one of our returning guest Lisa.
During the morning boat ride to Mandolin after everyone finished checking gear and enjoying the scenery someone shouts dolphins, dolphins. Everyone rushes to the front and on the surface a pod of spinner dolphins was spotted. As they followed the bow wave of our boat they gave full definition to their namesake leaping from the water and spinning in the air.
Isabelle who is completing her divemaster course was conducting a snorkeling exercise on the house reef with Oke, instructor Sandy, divemaster Sandy and James, our instructor intern, took an unexpected twist when they spotted an eagle ray (sometimes referred to as devil rays). After a brief encounter watching it swim through the current, normal chaos resumed to conclude her snorkel tour of the reef.
Cracking start to November and can’t wait to see what else our divers spot this month.
