These hairy squat lobsters at Bunaken remind me of one of the characters from Street Fighter; Blanka. I have been looking around the innumerous barrel sponges here for the past few days and have finally found some!
We have been pretty lucky critterwise for quite some time now. Frog fish are showing up regularly, especially on night dives. Our Halimeda ghost pipefish can be found in a couple of locations as well as quite a few ornates dotted around the sites. Almost every featherstar has squat lobsters at the base, clingfish and sometimes crinoid shrimp amongst the tendrils. The guides can even sometimes spot the little boxer crabs, sporting anemones as pom poms- but you have to be attentive as once spotted these guys make a bee line for the nearest nook or cranny.
This week we congratulate Karsten for completing his TEC50 course and Tracy for bravely finishing her Open Water course. Also Johannes and Janina will finish their Advanced course this morning; well done everyone!
