This week in Lembongan… Mola Mola Mola!!!! After an amazing mola season we believed that these creatures had made their way back to depths, as the water has begin to be warmer but, no! They decide this week, to come say hi to our divers and show them that they are still here!

Diving around Nusa Penida offers some good chances to see large pelagic, such as; manta rays, giant trevallies, eagle rays, turtles and sharks. These can be seen all year round, the molas are seasonal and are normally seen between July and October.

Ocean sunfish are usually living at great depth (around 300 meters) and marine biologists believe that they can live up to 100 years or more. The ideal condition to see these incredible bony fish can include cold water and depth but two of them were happy to hang out with our guests on the North Coast of Penida at 14m depths and 27 degrees water. Every single guest on the boat saw them, even Wouter who was just certified open water, the day before. Lucky first day of diving isn’t it?! Calypso, one of the fun divers did some amazing pictures of them!!

Not everything this week has been about the shy mola, this week we have also spotted a bamboo shark (on the same day than the two ocean sunfish!!), some boxer crabs, moray eel, turtles, frog fish and a lot of juvenile fish schooling. Elise, who is doing her divemaster training course in Sanur and Lembongan is back and will be ready soon for her snorkel test!! Stay tuned on the Two Fish Facebook page to follow her adventure!
