This week on Lembongan some of our guests spotted one of the most unique looking fish on the planet, the Unicorn Fish.
The unicorn fish has a long horn that protrudes from the top of its head but biologists are unsure of the purpose of it. It isn’t used as a weapon or swimming aid, they suspect it might be used during courtship as a way to attract other fish.
Another fun fact: The Unicorn Fish has the amazing ability to change its color almost instantly depending on its environment and its mood, but most of the time it takes on a shade of grey. Its fine row of sharp, small teeth make short work of the algae. Our guests spotted these Unicorn Fish close to the reef in a depth of around 7-10 meters on the north of Penida.
Many students this week were on Lembongan who went diving for their very first time! Sandra finished the Open Water Course with Silje, Vegard, Tom and Alyn as well as with Stephanie and Timo. Emily took 10 year old Olivia on her Junior Open Water Course and she did great a great job being like a little fish in the water. Nat also finished the Open Water Course with Rob, Kim and Steven.
