When it comes to deciding which advanced level course to take you have a number of options – continue up the PADI ladder of recreational certificates, side step into areas of interest with PADI Specialties, experiment with something different and try tecnical diving, or (if you are already a PADI Rescue Diver), Go Pro with our PADI Divemaster or Instructor programs and internship options.

Where do you want to go next?
Here are the most popular advanced level courses on offer in Amed:
PADI Advanced Open Water
If you are a PADI Open Water Diver this should be your next step. Not only will the PADI Advanced Open Water certify you to dive to 30 meters, you’ll also learn how to navigate underwater and you’ll be able to choose 3 other dives in areas of interest – we recommend choosing from night diving, wreck diving, peak performance buoyancy, Fish ID or drift diving to get the most out of Amed’s incredible dive sites. For those with underwater cameras, taking the underwater photography option is a great way to take home stunning pictures from your trip.

PADI Rescue Diver and EFR
Ask any PADI Professional and they’ll tell you that the PADI Rescue Diver Course was one of the most challenging yet rewarding advanced level programs they ever took. Not only will you refresh your own self-rescue skills, you’ll learn how to plan and execute dives in such a way as to minimize risks. You’ll also learn how to effectively handle and manage emergencies both on the the surface and underwater. To be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver you’ll also need to complete the Emergency First Responder Course (unless you already have a valid and up to date first aid and CPR certification). The PADI Rescue Diver Course is the first program in which you focus on other divers rather than yourself and it’s an essential course for anyone who is hoping to become a PADI professional.

The PADI Rescue Dive Course is one of the most rewarding PADI Courses
PADI Nitrox Specialty Course
Do you want to increase your allowable bottom time or safety margin when diving? Using “enriched air” or “Nitrox” means using a gas mix with a higher percentage of oxygen. As you’ll be breathing a corresponding lower percentage of Nitrogen you’ll increase your no stop time and be able to stay at depth for longer. Many liveaboards and resorts in remote areas require a Nitrox certification so this is a great addition to your diving certification portfolio.

PADI Deep Specialty Course
Have you ever wondered what lies below 30 meters? In the PADI Deep Specialty you’ll safely dive to a maximum depth of 40 meters. You’ll learn about the effects, hazards and precautions to take when making deep dives as well as learning about nitrogen narcosis, it’s affects and how to handle it.

Amed has stunning marine life below 30 meters
PADI Wreck Specialty
Explore the world famous WWII USAT Liberty shipwreck in Tulamben. Learn how to navigate and map a wreck, identify potential hazards and how to safely penetrate inside a wrecks structure. There are also additional small wrecks to explore in both Padang Bai and Amed. The wreck specialty is a wonderful advanced level course for anyone interested in marine life, wrecks and marine history.

PADI Sidemount Specialty Course
Why not try something totally different? Sidemount diving is fast becoming a popular way of diving which allows you to dive with a variety of tank configurations without the bulk of a BCD. Sidemount diving is a LOT of fun and ideal for those who want to be at the forefront of diving developments and those who are thinking about moving into tec diving.
