The dive sites around our three lovely islands of Nusa Penida, Ceningan and Nusa Lembongan are not only famous because of amazing encounters with Thresher Sharks, Hammerheads, Mola’s or Manta Rays, or because of the stunning hard and soft corals you can find at every dive site. You might have heard (or already experienced) that there is a lot of drift diving in Nusa Lembongan too. We can drift dive because we have nutrient-rich currents that attract a lot of fish and are amazing fun!
Most of the time the current pushes us along with the reef on our left or right shoulder and we can easily go with them without any effort. In fact – we can travel much further than when just swimming – so we see even more of the reef at no extra effort! The level of the current can change during the dive, a fast drift that has us flying along like Superman in a can change into nearly no current at all, which allows us to take a close look at all the macro life living on the reef.
Sometimes the current also pushes us towards the reef, sometimes away – it’s always a game but the fish let us know what is happening. The small reef fish will always swim headfirst into the current so by looking at them we can see the direction of the current! The fast the fish swim, the faster the current!
Every time we go drift diving in Nusa Lembongan we check the currents from the boat first so that we can carefully plan where to jump into the water – and then the fun begins. When we are drift diving in Nusa Lembongan we never need to worry about swimming against the current because the boat will come and pick us up at the end of the dive – it’s very lazy diving!!
Last week our guests Marc and Shawna had an amazing time drift diving in Nusa Lembongan. They visited our favourite site – Blue Corner, it’s probably one of the most famous dive sites at Nusa Lembongan and they loved to fly like superman.
There was not only fun drift diving in Nusa Lembongan last week, but our Instructors were also busy teaching courses. Our new Divemaster Intern at Two Fish in Nusa Lembongan is Damien. Damien is from France and we did his PADI Drift Diving Speciality and his PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Speciality Courses with our Instructor Intern Rosa. Also, Aranea from Belgium finished her PADI Open Water Course with Rosa as well and Henny from Germany did her PADI Open Water course with Tom.
If you want to go drift diving in Nusa Lembongan or take your Drift Dive speciality with us or just want to have some fantastic drift dives, take a trip to Nusa Lembongan and come and join us.
