Hello from Bunaken,
Once I have decided to do my Dive master course I knew it would be tough becouse I haven´t had much diving experience, but I haven´t expected to be that tough! 😀 I´ve started here in Bunaken and this is my second week. The resort is small and very nice with a swimming pool (which you actually will be entering more in wet suit than in swim suit 🙂 The atmosphere and people are great, it makes me feel at home and it will be difficult to leave when the time comes.
Before I could start DM training I actually had to top up my dives to the requested 40 and did that not just with fun dives, but also with 5 specialty courses – peak performance buoyancy, research and recovery, nitrox diver, deep diver and night diver (yet to be completed) and then do the Emergency first response exam and Rescue diver course. For the last two mentioned I had company, my new buddy Jason from Australia, who came for DM course as well. We are more or less on the same level with experience and knowledge which is great because if you look like an idiot sometimes you are not alone 😀
I have to say that Rescue diver was very difficult but amazing experience and I am proud of myself that I have successfully finished it. Well, it was just the beginning, myself and Jason are DMTs (dive master trainees ) now, we have lots of fun, but we have to also study a lot which is sometimes difficult when you hear guitar playing at the bar and guys singing. So that is all for now, I am running to get a Bintang (local beer). Oh, I am posting one picture. We were trying to figure out what fish sign our instructor Markus was trying to show us….well, we have it, the fish is called “what the heck are you doing?!” 😀 😀 😀
Yours,
Romana
