This week in Lembongan… The strange green waters of the past weeks has finally cleared and we are back to the standard, 20 meters visibility that Lembongan is common for.  Even the manta dive sites have cleared up with the average visibility being around 15 meters over the last few days. 

The visibility at the manta sites is normally less than that of the north, due to the waves and surge of the south coast bringing in plankton rich waters. All the plankton in the water can cause the visibility to seem a little low, but it is this that brings the mantas in. Even with the less than average visibility that we have been having at the manta dive sites, the mantas have been flocking in like crazy. Now over the last few days, with the water clearing, the sightings have been a little less.

One dive site that is extremely known for its clear visibility, is Crystal Bay. The crystal part of the name, comes from the fact that it is one of the dive sites in the area that has crystal clear visibility. The clear visibility is also linked to the cold water that rushes into the bay area. This cooler water mixes with the warmer water and creatures about a meter of hazy water. If you go below this hazy meter, the visibility is clearer but the water is colder. It is this cold water that the molas clear in, so you will need to spend a bit of time below, to have the chance to see the mola. At the end of the dive, as you start to make your way shallower, once again you will need to pass through the hazy water, but this time into warmer water, which is a nice change.
