Manta Point, on the coast of Nusa Penida, is famous worldwide for its cleaning stations, that in a (almost) daily basis bring Manta Rays to get cleaned, swim around and have a look to the divers and snorkelers. The chances to see some Manta there are really high, and the chances to see more than one are as high. And as the main highlight are the Manta Rays, normally the rest of marine life is ignored or missed… Apart from other “big” stuff like bamboo sharks or turtles, the rest don’t get much attention; but when looking closely and slowly, you can find a huge variety of nudibranch, shrimps, crabs… And today, one of our great guides, Baron, found a tiny white clown Frogfish at Manta Point on Lembongan!!!
How cool is it? When you are enjoying the gentle and beautiful performances of one of the biggest and more gentle creatures on the Oceans, and suddenly you find yourself admiring one of the favorites for a lot of divers: For their colors and their “beautiful ugliness”. The Frogfishes!!
On that fantastic dive, amongst our divers, we had a good variety of nationalities and levels: Ni, from China and Open Water Diver; Irene, an Instructor from the Netherlands that is traveling around the World with her whole family! :-); Gisella, another Diving Instructor, she is from Germany and is spending some time with us, and she is a lot of fun!; Ludwig, our Front Office guy, from Manado, that every now and then can sneak out of the office and jump on the boat to go for some dives; and Sam (from UK, and thanks a lot for the great pic of the Frogfish!!) and Ilse (from Netherlands) who are doing an internship here.
And during the last week, we had also Shin and Na Yean from Korea, and Matthew (from Australia) and Cordelia (from Germany) that completed their Advanced Open Water Course. So, you see, even being Low Season, we welcome people from all over the World! And yep, looks like the rainy Season is (almost) over: Sunny skies and hot days, flater seas and lower swells, and a really calm Mount Agung, that got the emergency level dropped!
Looking forward to the next days. And to the next visits to Manta Point. But not only for the Mantas, we want to find the small colorful Frogfish again!! 🙂
