This week at the south gilis Lombok … crustaceans are giving their best pose to the camera. Squat lobster are dorsoventrally flattened crusaceans with long tails held curled beneath the thorax. More than 900 species have been described, in around 60 genera. Besides squat lobsters, we saw other crustaceans and critters like corallimorph decorator crap; marivenes spider crap; orang utan crap; hairy spider crap; harlekin schrimp; skeleton shrimp; a flamboyant cuttlefish from about less than 1 centimetres; blue ring octopuss; about 9 pygmy seahorse; giant frog fish and many more!
Gannon a professional photographer and instructor from the united states was diving with us. That was his first dives at the south gilis. When using his brand new camera, our little fellers started showing off their most attractive sides. It seemed they know when the right moment was to pose for the camera.
Our PADI Divemaster Kiko discovered a new shark spot at our dive site “county”. The massive typography starts off with a plateau at 13 metres gently going down to a maximum of 40 metres. Inbetween that you got overhangs, ledges and little caves that are now residentiual homes for three whitetipp.
