I had become very comfortable to the ways of life in Lembeh and the resort staff, I was apprehensive to leave. Luckily the lifetyles between resorts are very similar and I have a quickly assimilated into the dive resort team, who welcomed me with open arms. What a great resort family!!
Here in Bunaken it is very course heavy at the moment which is great for my dive master training. On my first day I was able to join Tom one of the skilled instructors, as he conducted an open water course for 4 students.
The day consisted of introducing the students to their first open water dives on the beautiful walls of Bunaken. What an amazing place to experience your first dives. We saw a Green Turtle and Hawksbill Turtle on the first dive, with more turtles, beautiful coral and a reef shark on the second!!
Since then I have been in the pool and in open water assisting more open water students. The continuous flow of students means I get to experience teaching styles from Helen, Tom, Sam and Ilse. As they introduce the amazing world of diving to fresh faces on a daily basis.
The last two days I had the pleasure of working closely with Sam our Resort Manager and Dive Instructor. Joe would be my first advanced student to assist with. We went over to the mainland to do some muck diving during the buoyancy and navigation dives. Here we found a frogfish, ribbon eels, leafy scorpionfish and a pharaoh cuttlefish.
We ended the day with a night dive introducing Joe to the wonders of the underwater world at night. With turtles gliding stealthily through the blue, Morays slithering along the reef in hunt for food and a yellow Tigertail Seahorse swinging through the coral, we were all impressed with the dive.
I’ve had a great first week assisting on course in Bunaken and look forward to doing so many more with Two Fish Divers.
