Back in the winter of 1996 I qualified as a Divemaster in Goa India. Forward 22 years and the diving industry, equipment and education has massively changed. I decided that it was in my best interest to retrain. I started with the PADI Rescue Diver course and at the same time looked for a good dive school where I could study my Divemaster and do an internship. It was important for me to start from the beginning and work my way up to instructor level. I should have done this years ago but life got in the way. I hunted far and wide to find that perfect dive school, with the right instructor and team. These were they guys that were going to be giving me the guidance and skills to make me an even more awesome diver than I am right now. I wanted to learn and I wanted people I could respect had a personality, and a genuine gift for teaching, and I needed them to be gentle and understand me.
Finally in November of 2017 I met Anna and Danny at TWO FISH Lembongan and I just knew instantly that they where the ones that could give me the guidance that I needed. I stayed for 10 days and watched Danny and Anna operate. I felt like they had given me the best Christmas present, because even though they did not know it, I had finally found two people I could ultimately trust.
In March 2108 I contacted Anna and Danny and asked them if I could join the TWO FISH family to do my Divemaster internship with them. Kindly they agreed and within 24 hours I was signed up and booking my flights. I started reading my theory in the cold winter in the UK. Slowly, slowly reading each day, absorbing the course and working on the physics and physiology so that when I arrived in Lembongan I was in a better position to move forward.
So here we are 2 weeks in and I’m having the most incredible time. The diving is amazing, my instructors are awesome and I can tell you Danny and Anna are everything and more than I could have wanted, not only are they my mentors, but I can safely say there my friends too. But it wouldn’t do TWO FISH Lembongan justice if I didn’t mention the other staff. The guides here also super lovely, always willing to help out and answer questions, very professional and excellent divers and spotters. They have wonderful personalities and whilst they may be dive guides in they day there also musicians and entertainment at night. We have Barren, Roger, Sam and Balam. But that’s not all; there are the cooks, the boat boys, receptionists, cleaning staff and maintenance team. I mean this wholeheartedly, this is really one big happy family, and I’m so proud to be a part of it. The people I have met through being at TWO FISH, customers and staff have been such good fun, from old to young and from all sorts of backgrounds, the incredible stories I have listened to, the laughs and smiles, it been one heck of a journey.
For the next month I will be competing my Divemaster here and for sure it will break my heart to leave this lot, but in 6 months time I will return to complete my Instructors Course.
Without a doubt TWO FISH Lembongan is the right place for me.
My long-term goal is to build up my travel company specialising in scuba travel. I have a vision for the future in leading diving expeditions to the very best locations across the globe, doing a mix of group travel and personal bespoke itineraries. My website is yet to be built but watch out for www.scubadivingholidays.com in the future.
So let your dreams become realities, don’t be scared to have a vision. After all, with 27 years of diving around the world it is what I know about, and I just want to share the very best experiences with other people.
