This week in Bunaken… A large amount of eagle rays have been seen on the dives this week and the divers had a nice surprise visit from a pod of pilot whales who played in the bow wave of the boat one day on the way back from the morning dives.

It is quite common to see eagle rays here around Scuba Diving in Bunaken, but usually they are only seen one and one or at the most in pairs. This week they have been seen on most dives and dive guide Rolly and his group were even treated to a school of six of them cruising by. Those beautiful rays are always a treat to see with their cheeky little grins on their faces and six of them at the same time is truly an impressive sight.

There has been quite a few night dives out this week and the guests were impressed with the huge difference in marine life between the day and night. Linda from the Netherlands was particularly happy with not one, but two blue ringed octopus. It was on her wish list, but she thought she would have to wait until she moved over to Lembeh to see one.

Of course there has been a few courses as well; Inna, Dmitry and Nicolai from Australia decided they wanted to spend some more time at depth and completed their PADI Enriched Air Nitrox course. Tess, Emma, Conor and Bryce, also from Australia, all met at university and are now travelling together. They took the leap in to the wonder of the underwater world and completed their PADI Open Water course. Emma also provided us with the quote of the week. “It feels really nice to wear a weight belt. I don’t want to take it off!”
