It was an exciting week in Lembeh as Martin, a first time visitor to Lembeh, asked his girlfriend, Carola to marry him! He hired Two Fish Lembeh’s transport boat to take the two of them to a beautiful, private white-sand beach where they went for a long, romantic walk before asking the Big Question. She said “Yes”, of course, which makes Lembeh a very memorable place for the both of them! A huge congratulations to Martin and Carola from the whole Two Fish Divers crew.
Meanwhile, two guests who were just here in December were back for more diving! Dymphna comes multiple times a year, and is most interested in photographing the amazing variety of Nudibranch that Lembeh diving has to offer. Brian acquired a shiny new camera since we last saw him at Two Fish in December that he set it up to capture super-macro underwater photos. They both put their cameras to good use this week with Harlequin Shimp, Boxer Crabs, Pontohi Seahorses, and indeed a wide variety of rare and unusual Nudibranch.
Though return guests always have their favorite Lembeh dive sites, but it’s a ton of fun to branch out and try new sites with them as well! This week we visited two new dive sites: Binuang Pante and Retak Larry. Binuang Pante was full of amazing Sea Slugs (photo: Lobiger viridis, Sapsucking Slug), a Wonderpus Octopus, Hairy Shrimp and a variety of Ghostpipefish. Needless to say, Binuang Pante is going to become a regular stop for Two Fish Divers, Lembeh!
Retak Larry was an impressive new Lembeh dive site as well. The divers who were hoping for a Mimic Octopus sighting were fully satisfied by their rare Mosaic Octopus sighting. The aptly named animal flashed its incredible mosaic patterns and danced about the reef long enough for all the divers to get a good, long look.
Our newly certified Nitrox diver, Mattias, enjoyed his extended available bottom time as he took photos and videos of all of the above mentioned critters. If you thought Nitrox was only useful on the walls of Bunaken, think again! Photographers who choose to dive Nitrox in Lembeh are often times the ones left with 10 extra minutes to shoot the rare Nudibranch or Octopus that invariably shows up just as everyone else’s available bottom time is getting low. No need to plan ahead, just show up and sign up for our ever-available Nitrox class on your next visit to Two Fish Divers Lembeh.
