September is coming to an end in Bunaken and the conditions are beautiful, the diving in Bunaken is great and the guests are awesome.
The night divers were treated to a show from the fascinating Flying Gurnard which is the largest of the Dragonet family and has a fantastic set of “wings” that it displays while gliding across the bottom of the sea.
We also have the most colourful of the dragonet family; the Mandarin Fish, this is a fish we actually arrange a completely separate dive to go and see, these tiny marvels look like they were coloured by a young child and around sunset they perform a mating ritual which is quite a sight to see! This family provide a fantastic example of the weird and wonderful creatures that have managed to develop in this part of the coral triangle.
With many guests visiting this week from all over the world it has been a multicultural fiesta here in the resort. Visitors from Spain, France, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Greece, China and Australia have all enjoyed a big variety of wildlife through snorkeling and diving in Bunaken.
One special guest who really made an impression was Christine from Germany who came to us as a nervous newly certified Open Water diver. After a couple of dives with our instructor Sam to put her at ease she was ready to take on the PADI Advanced Course in Bunaken and has now left as a very confident and competent diver thanks to the hard work of the whole Two Fish Divers Bunaken team.
It is always a pleasure to watch a new diver develop into somebody who can really enjoy everything there is to offer here in Sulawesi.
When is it time for your visit to Bunaken? Or you need to check out Bunaken’s dive sites first?
