Cuttlefish – the ultimate cephalopods
Gili Air is home to plenty of cuttlefish, the crazy color-changing cephalopod cousin of octopus and squid. Like other cephalopods, cuttlefish can instantly change the color, pattern, and texture of their skin and arms for communication and camouflage. Cuttlefish are also extremely intelligent, with one of the largest brains of all invertebrates. There are plenty of cuttlefish to be found here around the Gili islands, ranging in size from a few inches long to almost two feet!
This week we welcomed brand new Divemaster Trainees Dario and Mel to our shop. Dario and Mel were both previously diving at Two Fish Nusa Lembongan where they completed their PADI Rescue Diver Course, and are excited to start their PADI Divemaster training courses in the warm waters here in Gili Air. Although just beginning, Dario and Mel had a busy first day here interacting with fun divers and students, began studying their divemaster materials, and even led our bi-weekly beach clean-up!

Soon to be PADI Divemasters in Gili Air!
Every other Thursday, Two Fish Gili Air hosts a beach cleanup, where staff and guests spend about an hour picking up any stray trash along our stretch of the beach. This week, 7 people filled 6 bags with garbage, then enjoyed some well-earned refreshments to celebrate – great job guys! Our next beach cleanup is November 7 and we hope to see you there.
