As training continues, I feel I am getting more autonomous every day. It’s really nice to feel your knowledge, skills and confidence level growing – both in the water and on land. I now have a more precise idea of how the dive center operates, what there is to do with divers from check-in to check-out. I also realize I know the diving spots better – I gained in spatial awareness underwater and I’m better at finding stuff.

Many dives reserve surprises though, and we had a couple of very cool sightings this last week: some black-tip and white-tip reef sharks, an eagle ray (which I finally saw after being told there’s been one maybe… 10 times?), an amazing night dive with (in a single dive): a frogfish, an octopus (which species I haven’t yet identified) with crazy white-blue-green color patterns, a Spanish dancer, juvenile broadclub cuttlefish, early juvenile boxfish, juvenile ocellated lionfish…
We had a pretty cool batch of guests these last days, helping making life at the resort fun, as well as the arrival of a new DMT, Tram.
In conclusion, I hope my last week will be as good as the last one (even if it will also be full of tests and skill assessments!). Here is the pic of the week, taken by fellow DMT Tom during our safety stop at Mandolin….
