Hey! My name is Nelson, I recently graduated University with my Bachelors of Marine Biology and decided after all that study it was finally time to get my hair wet. What better way to do that then become a professional diver! I was qualified as an advanced open water and dove straight into my rescue course with Sal at Gili Air Two Fish. This was an awesome way to build more confidence in the water and I instantly felt like I was part of the family. Everyone was so welcoming!
After completing my Rescue & EFR course I jumped straight into my Dive Masters and enjoyed spotting frog fish and a heap of turtles! Barrel sponges scattered throughout the dives are like little treasure chests of resting fish and shrimp. Coral Bommies house a heap of fish with a sleepy turtle below (if you’re lucky). On the wall dives and slopes in between the islands I have been delighted with feather stars clinging to vine corals,
fancy gorgonians and funky Fungids.
Between all the diving Sal has been so helpful and informative with diver skills, running me through pool sessions and improving my skills. It’s only been a week and time has flown by! I’ve learnt so much already and can now conduct safety briefings on our dive boat. I’m in the process of mapping out my selected dive site and am constantly learning skills that I can use in my diving career and the workforce. Now I must get back to island life and enjoy the sunset with my toes in the water, bum in sand and beer in the hand!!!
