This wreck in Kubu is amazing ! While the USAT Liberty attracts divers from all over as one of the world’s top wreck sites, it’s not the only wreck to dive when you visit the Amed/Tulamben area. Just north of Tulamben, in the village of Kubu, lies the Boga wreck, a ship used by the Indonesian government to partol local waters. This artificial reef was voluntarily sunk in 2012 and now inhabits lots of marine life. Schools of spadefish, fusiliers and damselfish roam the area; with a good eye or alongside one of our experienced dive guides, you may spot scorpion fish, octopus and varieties of nudibranch, and if you look out to the blue, giant trevallies, barracudas, and if you’re lucky, the occasional reef shark may swim past.

Advanced divers love this site for all it has to offer. At the stern, you can drop down to 38m to check out the propeller. Most of the ship can be explored between the bow at 16 meters and the bottom of the cargo hold at around 33 meters which makes it the perfect opportunity to dive enriched air Nitrox to extend your bottom time. Divers can penetrate the dual level wreck to discover buddha statues, a VW car and other treasures. The nearby shallow reefs teeming with life are not to be missed.
