We’ve enjoyed a huge variety of divers and a huge variety of life in Amed, Bali this week. With many of our guests asking to visit the USAT Liberty it was a chance for many of them to meet the resident Great Barracuda that lives there – I don’t think he has a name yet so any suggestions welcome 🙂 Other than that our guests and guides have been seeing a sample of the eclectic life that lives here.

Blacktip reef sharks have been cruising by and Hawksbill turtles coming to say hello, often to divers like Anais and Sophie during Discover Scuba lessons – to be honest seeing sharks and / or turtles on your first ever dive is a pretty cool experience.

While the certified divers have been going a bit deeper with our dive guide Ferry, who has been finding smaller creatures like leaf scorpionfish and the Denise Pygmy Seahorse – far less common and harder to spot than the Bargibanti Pygmy which also lives here.

Our instructor Anh-Vu wasn’t to miss out on the act either – one day he returned with his divers marvelling not only about “all the multicoloured fishes!!” but in particular about the group of bumphead parrotfish that had passed them during the dive. And Anh-vu also certified our first Advanced Open Water Diver here at our new centre – congratulations Yi Ling!!!

So a normal week in Amed really – a wide range of life from sharks to macro, more challenging divesites for the advanced diver but with plenty of sheltered areas for us to introduce more people to the wonders of the underwater world. It’s no wonder we love being here.
