This week on the North Gili’s, Lombok we have been out every day on the boat we have managed to visit a variety of sites this week.
Diving around Gili Trawangan we often spot White tip reef sharks, black tips and Jacks. The white tip reef sharks around here are generally extremely lazy, we find them hanging out under rocks of slowly swimming around, which is great for those who like taking pictures as they can generally get a clear shot. As for the black tips and jacks they are a bit faster cruising around the reefs.
At Manta Point on the south side of Gili Trawangan, at 9-12 meters we often spot a black tip passing by and about 1 meter behind there is a Jack.
Another buddy team that we find around all three islands but mainly Gili Trawangan is a Green Sea Turtle with a bat fish (otherwise known as a Spade fish). The Turtle tends to be munching away at some coral with the bat fish hovering above. As the Turtle ascends for some air or moves onto a more delicious area the bat fish follows.
Every time it is lovely to watch different species budding up and making friends.
Here on Gili Air we have had the pleasure of Daniel join us from Switzerland. He started the open water with us and is now onto his Advanced Course. He is talking about Rescue and Divemaster now. In his words:
“ I love it here on Gili Air, I have all the time in the world and it’s better to spend my money on achieving something I enjoy over going out drinking all the time!”
Well Daniel is part of our team now, and a great member he is too!
