This week in Bunaken… Divers got wrecked this week when we ran a PADI Wreck Diving Specialty Course on the shipwreck that is near the mainland, not far from Manado. The shipwreck is not visited very often as it is exposed to the elements with, at time, low visibility and strong currents. None of that this time though and the divers could enjoy clear, calm waters.

Earlier in the week we got a reminder that Bunaken is special even when you are above water. Sitting logging dives by the fish book table in the afternoon dive guide Vandy suddenly shouted ‘Dolphins!’. And boy, was he right! Straight out from the resort, just off the reef wall, was a big pod of dolphins swimming past. No one knows exactly how many individuals, but it must have been more than 50 as it took minutes for the whole pod to pass and the water was just a boiling mess of dolphins. Such a nice afternoon treat!

The sometimes strong currents that tends to show up in May have given the divers some proper drift dives this week, but as we have noticed before – it really brings in the good stuff! Schools of bumphead parrotfish, plenty of eagle rays playing around in the currents, wahoo, Spanish mackerel and more sharks than usual.

The sun is shining. The water is blue. Where are you?? 🙂
